Usually, this game is just played with your hands. Players make different symbols with their hands - rock, paper or scissors - which can beat one another.

Paper is described by a flat hand, scissors with the middle and index fingers extended and slightly apart, rock with a fist.

How the symbols rank:
Scissor cuts paper (scissor wins)
Paper wraps rock (paper wins)
rock grinds scissors (rock wins)

If both players make the same symbol, the game is a draw and has to be repeated. Since each symbol beats exactly one other symbol, each has the same chance of winning.

History of the game:
The origin of the game remains unresolved and rather controversial. It appears that the game has been played for centuries in Japan and only came to Europe in the 19th century. In 1842, the "scissors, rock, paper" club was founded in London, then moved to Toronto in 1918. Seven years later, the club already had over 10,000 members. Since 2002, the World Cup has taken place annually in Toronto.
